During the colder months of the year, many of us generally experience small changes in our routines, our mood and even our health. One outcome of the changing weather is that our hair, exposed to Winter weather and all great things that come with it, will inevitably require some care in order to keep it healthy and looking great. The dry and cold air can do a number on your hair making it weak and brittle, not to mention you’ll probably be more likely to use damaging heat products on it during the colder months… as no one really wants to leave the house with wet hair in December. That’s why there’s a few unlikely tips and tricks you can be doing to help keep your hair protected and lively throughout Winter!
It’s not just for drinking you know. If you needed an excuse to buy a few six-packs then you’ve got one here! Beer can actually bring life and health back into your hair, making it softer and more vibrant. Simply mix 2-3 tablespoons into about 1/2 a cup of warm water and use it as a mask for your hair, rubbing it in your wet hair while in the shower and leaving on for a few minutes. Then simply rinse off and you’ll notice the difference right away in the appearance and feel of your hair!
You likely have been warned to stay away from humidity in order to avoid frizz and strange looking hair…and that’s fair. BUT in the Winter this could actually benefit you a lot more than you think! Since your heating is usually on indoors, the air is likely to be dry, not to mention the outside dry and cold air… exposing your hair to a lot of dry climate and very little moisture. In order to prevent your hair from looking and feeling dry, try and turn on a humidifier a few times a week when you’re home just to give it a little bit of moisture so that it can stay healthy and lively.
Whether it is our hats or heat products or simply the air…we are often left with annoying static hair in winter. In order to combat this, lightly run a dryer sheet over your hair or hairbrush before use. Sounds strange, but going from the top to bottom will do wonders in keeping your hairs in place.
The don’t just tell you to eat your vegetables for no reason. In fact, eating certain vegetables like celery can have a positive effect on your hair. Celery contains minerals which strengthen hair and help smooth it out, so in the colder months you could benefit in more ways than one! Since your hair is likely to break easily during these dry months, try and change your diet up a bit in order to help keep it healthy and stimulate your hair follicles..encouraging growth!
